The Entertainer and Pennies Reach Incredible £1 Million Milestone

Alder Hey Children’s Charity is celebrating an incredible fundraising milestone as The Entertainer and Pennies have raised more than £1 million in support of children and families cared for at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.
The achievement forms part of a remarkable £4 million raised for four of the UK’s leading children’s hospitals through The Entertainer’s long-standing partnership with micro-donation charity, Pennies.
Thanks to the generosity of customers across more than 150 Entertainer stores nationwide, Alder Hey Children’s Charity, Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, Bristol Children’s Hospital Charity and Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity have each now received more than £1 million through customer micro-donations made at the checkout.
Since becoming the first retailer to partner with Pennies in 2011, The Entertainer has enabled customers to round up cashless purchases to the nearest pound, transforming small everyday donations into life-changing support for children and families across the UK.
At Alder Hey, these donations help fund projects and experiences that go beyond what the NHS can provide, including pioneering equipment, specialist facilities, wellbeing support and magical moments that bring comfort and joy to children during difficult times.
Fiona Ashcroft, CEO of Alder Hey Children’s Charity, said:
“We are incredibly grateful to The Entertainer and its customers for helping to reach this remarkable milestone. Partnerships like this create real and lasting impact for children and families both here in our local communities and for the thousands of children from across the UK who come to Alder Hey for specialist care every year.
“Every donation, no matter how small, helps us provide life-changing experiences, pioneering equipment and vital support that brings comfort, hope and moments of magic to children during some of the most difficult times in their lives.
“The Entertainer’s long-standing commitment is a wonderful example of how valued corporate partnerships can make a meaningful difference – helping us create brighter days, precious memories and extraordinary care for children and families when they need it most.”
Andrew Murphy OBE, Group Chief Executive Officer of The Entertainer, said:
“We’re incredibly proud to have reached this significant milestone, which is a testament to the generosity of our customers and the value of our partnership with Pennies.”
The Entertainer and Pennies have now raised an impressive £6.4 million for more than 500 UK charities since the partnership began, demonstrating the extraordinary impact that small acts of generosity can have when communities come together.
Everyone at Alder Hey Children’s Charity would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to The Entertainer, Pennies and every customer who chose to say “yes” to a micro-donation. Together, you are helping create brighter futures for children and families when they need it most.
