Mascot Grand National raises over £22,000 for Alder Hey!

Last month, we had the pleasure of hosting our first ever Mascot Grand National at the world famous Aintree Racecourse, amongst an action-packed day of racing.
We welcomed 24 fantastic mascots representing businesses, charities and organisations from across our region to take on a thrilling dash to the finish on the iconic Aintree ground. After taking the long walk around the parade ring and joining Alder Hey’s Oli the Elephant and the Community Fundraising team for an intense warm up, the action got underway. Despite some minor controversy and a couple of falls along the way, it was Sandy the Lion who took the crown and the bragging rights, with Chase the Ace and Claire Bear completing the top three.
Kindly sponsored by Golden Bear Toys, the Mascot Grand National event has raised a wonderful £22,996 for Alder Hey Children’s Charity, which will help to make such a difference for the children and young people that we care for at Alder Hey.
Thank you to all the mascots who took part, and the businesses, charities and organisations who signed up to make a difference at Alder Hey. Your fundraising will have such an impact at Alder Hey.
If your company/organisation is interested in taking part in next year’s event, keep your eyes peeled for more information coming soon, and email lily.fox@alderhey.nhs.uk to discuss participation.
