A record-breaking Oli’s Safari Walk!
On the 12th of May, Alder Hey Children’s Charity welcomed 2400 supporters to Knowsley Safari Park to celebrate our tenth annual Oli’s Safari Walk, on what was a beautiful spring morning.
This year’s staging of the event was the most popular to date, smashing the previous attendance record of 1100 and raising an astonishing total of over £60,000 in the process, with more donations and fundraising still coming in. Supporters accompanied Oli on a 3km walk around the safari park, where we encountered a whole host of wonderful animals!
Fundraisers were then given the chance to access the rest of the park and all its fantastic attractions, after receiving their Oli’s Safari Walk medal and getting photo with Oli himself of course! Thank you to everyone who fundraised and joined us on the day, for what was an unbelievable event. The money raised from this year’s event will make such a difference to the patients and families at Alder Hey, and we wouldn’t be able to do without the support of those who joined us. Thank you!
We wish to express our gratitude and thank our sponsors and partners who helped to make the event happen. We would once again like to thank our Charity President the Countess of Derby for allowing special access to use the safari park grounds and also extend a special thank you to everyone at Applied Nutrition for sponsoring this year’s event and helping to make it bigger and better than ever.
Furthermore, we would like to thank all our volunteers who joined us on the day to help ensure that the event ran smoothly and was enjoyed by everyone. We were joined by volunteers from the 2359 Woolton Squadron Air Cadets, HSBC staff, ASM staff, Make Noise Choir and UK Garrison, all of whom did an excellent job and helped to put on a fantastic family day out.
Thank you to everyone who helped to raise the bar this year with our record-breaking safari walk. The funds raised from this year’s event will help to make such a difference for the 450,000 babies, children, and young people who require the services of Alder Hey Hospital each and every year. Thank you so much for joining us, and we cannot wait until next year!
