Fundraiser of the Month: March 50K edition!
March was such an incredible month for fundraising at Alder Hey Children’s Charity, with the March 50K Challenge encouraging hundreds of supporters to get moving in order to make a difference for the 450,000 patients and families a year that use Alder Hey’s services.
To celebrate such an incredible month of fundraising, we have compiled a special March 50K edition of Fundraiser of the Month, celebrating every single person who took on our challenge to move 50km over the month of March, all whilst raising money for our MediCinema Appeal. So far, this challenge has raised an incredible collective £62,000 but over the next couple of weeks we wanted to take the opportunity to highlight some exceptional stories from this month-long fundraising feat.
Laura Haugh completed both the March 50K Challenge and the Liverpool Half Marathon last month as a way to thank Alder Hey for the care her son Arlo has received at the hospital. Arlo was born with Spina Bifida and underwent his first operation at just 24 hours old, and less than two weeks later also needed open heart surgery as one of his valves was blocked. Laura told us: “I cannot express just how grateful we are to all the staff at Alder Hey, they really do go above and beyond. I am part of a running club so I decided I would push myself that little bit further than I have before and do my first half marathon, and even better that I got to raise money for this amazing cause. We honestly don’t know what we would do or where we would be today without Alder Hey.”
Through her efforts in the Liverpool Half Marathon and the March 50K Challenge, Laura has raised over £500 which will go towards making a difference for children and young people across Alder Hey. Our MediCinema Appeal will allow us to bring the magic of cinema to Alder Hey patients and provide them and their families with life-lasting magical memories.
Congratulations to Laura and everyone else who completed the March 50K Challenge for your incredible support. Your commitment, determination and generosity will make such a difference to all the brave patients and families at Alder Hey. Make sure to check back next week as we meet another star fundraiser – Sophie!
