Alder Hey Children’s Charity Achieves Fairer, Healthier Liverpool Organisation Accreditation

Alder Hey Children’s Charity is proud to announce that it has achieved Fairer, Healthier Liverpool Organisation Accreditation in recognition of our commitment to tackling health inequalities and improving outcomes for children, young people and families across the city.
The accreditation forms part of Liverpool’s Marmot City approach, led by the Fairer, Healthier Liverpool Partnership, which brings together organisations across the city to work collaboratively to improve health and wellbeing and reduce inequalities.
The announcement comes alongside Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust also receiving accreditation, marking an important milestone across the wider Alder Hey family and reinforcing a shared commitment to creating fairer outcomes for children and families.
Liverpool became the world’s first Marmot City in 2025, recognising the city’s commitment to improving the social conditions that influence health and wellbeing. Based on the work of Professor Sir Michael Marmot, the Marmot approach recognises that health is shaped by more than healthcare alone, with factors such as poverty, housing, education, employment, environment and community support all playing a significant role in a child’s future health and opportunities.
At Alder Hey Children’s Charity, this commitment is reflected in our mission to support not only world-class healthcare, but also the wider wellbeing of children, young people and communities. Through funding innovative projects, enhancing patient and family experiences, supporting mental health initiatives and investing in community wellbeing, the Charity continues to champion healthier and fairer futures for children across the region.
Achieving this accreditation further strengthens the Charity’s role in supporting Liverpool’s vision for a healthier, more equitable city, while continuing to place children and families at the heart of everything we do.
As part of a city-wide movement for change, Alder Hey Children’s Charity is proud to stand alongside Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust and partners across Liverpool in helping create lasting change for future generations.
