Alder Hey Arts for Health scoop health and wellbeing award

Alder Hey Children’s Charity is delighted that the Alder Hey Arts for Health programme, funded thanks to grants and donations to Alder Hey Charity, received the Health and Wellbeing Award at last week’s Liverpool City Region Culture and Creativity Awards in New Brighton, picking up the award ahead of several truly amazing initiatives across the City Region, and illustrating the powerful connection between art and healthcare.
Driven by their dedication to enhancing patient care through creativity, the Arts for Health team work in partnership with many of the leading cultural and arts organisations in the region to bring the very best of arts practice to Alder Hey. The programme supports over 10,000 children and young people each year whilst they are under Alder Hey’s care, through a range of creative interventions both in the hospital and in the community.
“We were absolutely delighted to receive this award which recognises the innovation and quality of our arts programme and how this makes a positive impact to the children and young people in our care. We are proud to play a part in supporting so many children and young people by bringing the best of arts practice into the hospital space and by supporting our amazing creative team to do this important work. Alder Hey Arts for Health are so grateful to Alder Hey Children’s Charity and other funders for making this work possible.””
Vicky Charnock, Arts Manager
Thanks to the generous support of supporters and donors, the Arts for Health programme continues to grow year on year, providing mood-boosting creative opportunities for children and young people to enjoy during their time in hospital, but also allowing parents and carers the opportunity to relax and reset during what can be a stressful time for the whole family.
Alder Hey Children’s Charity is so proud to support this crucial programme at Alder Hey, thank you so much to everyone whose donations and support allows us to continue funding the Alder Hey Magic and allowing the Arts for Health team to make a difference for children and young people across our hospital.
