Incredible group complete Yorkshire 3 Peaks in memory of Alfie Colebrook
November’s Fundraiser of the Month are the family and friends of Alfie Colebrook who recently raised a remarkable £8,609 after they completed a Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in Alfie’s memory.
Alfie was under the care of Alder Hey but sadly passed away on 21st May this year following a short, rare illness, aged just 14. Alfie’s elder brother Jack said that he and his family wanted to give back to Alder Hey for the care that Alfie received, saying: “Everyone from the volunteers, doctors, nurses, cleaners and everyone involved treated him with care and dignity in the time he was with them and also treated my family and I with the utmost respect and really made the whole situation that little bit easier.”
Jack went on to explain: “We arranged the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge covering 26 miles and three mountains all within 12 hours. A group of family and friends came together in support and raised an amazing amount of money for the hospital. The challenge itself was gruelling and very difficult, but we had our guardian angel pushing us all on and we all completed this challenge within 12 hours.”
Thanks to the determination of Jack, his family and friends, and amazing fundraising including donations from Alfie’s school, the group raised £8,609 for Alder Hey, a number that took Jack by surprise: “When we started the fundraising, I wasn’t even thinking that we would get anywhere close to this amount! We cannot thank everyone who supported us enough for helping us to honour Alfie’s memory with this incredible donation to a special cause.”
Everyone at Alder Hey Children’s Charity would like to thank Jack, along with the rest of Alfie’s friends and family for taking on this incredible challenge in aid of our charity. We are incredibly grateful to you all for thinking of us during this difficult time, the funds raised through this challenge will make such a difference for other children, young people and families at Alder Hey. Thank you!
