Make a BIG Wish Come True for Children at Alder Hey
This year, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital is celebrating 10 years in its incredible hospital building – and we’re asking for your help to make two BIG Wishes come true for the children and families who rely on Alder Hey every day.
Every child deserves comfort, distraction and moments of joy when they’re in hospital. But after 10 years of constant use, many of the hospital’s TVs, toys and play resources urgently need replacing.
That’s why we’re raising funds for new Smart TVs for children’s bedrooms and wards, and toys, games and sensory resources for young patients. Together, these simple things can make a huge difference to a child’s hospital experience.

Why It Matters
Being in hospital can feel scary, lonely and overwhelming for children. A favourite TV show, a video call with family, a game, craft activity or sensory toy can help children feel calmer, happier and more like themselves during difficult moments. For families spending long days, and sometimes weeks or months, in hospital, these comforts matter more than you might imagine.
Big Wish #1 – New Smart TVs
The TVs currently used across Alder Hey are now 10 years old and many are no longer able to support modern apps and streaming services. New Smart TVs would help children: watch their favourite programmes and films; stay connected to family and friends; video call loved ones from hospital; keep up with school and important moments at home; and feel distracted during treatment and recovery. For children who can’t leave their bed or ward, this connection to the outside world can mean everything.

Big Wish #2 – Toys, Games and Play Resources
Play is a vital part of helping children cope in hospital. Alder Hey’s Play Specialists use toys, games and creative activities every day to reduce anxiety, explain procedures and help children feel safe. We want to provide: sensory toys for babies and children; board games and puzzles; arts and crafts materials; Lego™ and creative play items; and activities for teenagers and young people. These simple resources help children smile, relax and feel more confident during treatment.

Every donation makes a difference.
Whether you can give a little or a lot, your support will help bring comfort, distraction and joy to children at Alder Hey.
Your donation could help provide:
- A new toy or game for a child on the ward.
- Arts and crafts activities during treatment.
- Sensory resources for anxious young patients.
- Entertainment and connection through new Smart TVs.
Every gift matters – and together, we can make a BIG difference for thousands of children and families.
Please help make a BIG Wish come true.
