Sir AP McCoy OBE is a legendary jockey renowned for his exceptional talent and relentless determination. Born in County Antrim, Northern Ireland, his passion for horse racing started at a young age.
Dominating the sport for over two decades, he recorded an astonishing 4,357 win in total, including the 2010 Grand National and the prestigious Cheltenham Gold Cup. His exceptional career as a jump jockey led to McCoy being knighted in 2016.
A regular face at Alder Hey during the Grand National festival, he brings smiles and laughter to our wards. A longstanding Charity Champion, AP has helped to raise vital funds for equipment as well as creative workshops for our patients through his popular Golf Days, which he organised with fellow former jockey and Charity Champion Mick Fitzgerald.
