Arts for Health nominated for People’s Choice Award

This year marks a very special milestone for Arts for Health at Alder Hey, as the programme celebrates 20 years of bringing creativity into healthcare – and we’re delighted to share that it has been nominated for the Liverpool City Region Culture and Creativity People’s Choice Award.
For two decades, Arts for Health has championed the transformative power of creativity in a hospital setting. What began as a vision to enhance the patient experience through the arts has grown into a vital, embedded programme that supports thousands of children and young people every year.
Today, Arts for Health provides more than 11,000 patients annually with access to high-quality creative opportunities, delivering over 2,000 sessions each year across the hospital. From music, visual arts and storytelling to performance, digital media and interactive workshops, every session is carefully curated to support recovery, reduce anxiety, build confidence and develop new skills. Most importantly, the programme helps to lift spirits and create moments of joy during what can often be challenging times for children and their families.
Arts for Health is proudly funded thanks to generous donations and grants to Alder Hey Children’s Charity. The ongoing support of fundraisers, partners and donors makes it possible for creativity to remain a core part of the hospital experience, ensuring that young people can continue to benefit from the positive impact of the arts.

Being shortlisted for the People’s Choice Award is a meaningful recognition of the dedication of the co-ordinators, artists, healthcare professionals, fundraisers and supporters who have helped shape Arts for Health over the past 20 years. It is also a celebration of the thousands of children and young people who have taken part in the programme and experienced first-hand the difference creativity can make.
Voting is now open and closes on Tuesday 3rd March. We would be incredibly grateful for your support as we celebrate two decades of championing creativity in healthcare.
