Biography

Beth Tweddle 2

As Britain’s greatest ever-female gymnast, Beth’s impressive achievements include being an Olympic Bronze Medalist, a triple World Champion, a six-time European Champion, a Commonwealth Champion and seven-times consecutive National Champion.

Beth has since retired from competitive gymnastics but is very much involved with her beloved sport, as a director and ambassador of Beth Tweddle Gymnastics. Beth and fellow Olympian, Steve Parry, set up the company to provide the opportunity for as many children as possible to take up gymnastics, within schools, leisure centres and gymnastics clubs to help develop the sport around the country.

A proud and passionate ambassador for Alder Hey for over ten years, Beth is not afraid to take on a challenge, most notably in 2013 when she took part in an Alder Hey skydive.

In July 2024, Beth and her friends embarked on a new challenge for Alder Hey, a ‘triathlon with a twist.’ Beth crossed the finishing line in just over 7 hours and 30 minutes, completing an 11.8km hike to the summit of the Old Man of Coniston, a 15km cycle through Grizedale Forest and a 3km canoe on one of the largest lakes, Coniston Water in Cumbria,

In taking on our challenges, Beth has helped to raise vital funds for equipment and projects that help make our patients experience the very best it can be.
