Angela Bellingham

Biography

Angela graduated from University with an English Literature degree before undertaking law conversion qualifications. Since qualifying as a Solicitor, Angela has worked in private practice before moving to the public sector as an in-house solicitor, where her legal practice focuses on public protection and safeguarding, including legal work designed to protect vulnerable children and young people. Her work brings her into regular contact with issues of inequality, social welfare, and early intervention—challenges that resonate strongly with the values and strategic priorities of Alder Hey Children’s Charity.

Bringing a deep commitment to community and cultural engagement, Angela previously served for six years as a non-executive trustee on the board of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, where she was the lead trustee for Inclusivity and Relevance. In this role, she championed access to the arts for people from diverse and lower socio-economic backgrounds, an experience that also deepened her appreciation for the transformative power of music in children’s lives. She also contributed to the Philharmonic’s mission as a member of its Audit Sub-Committee.

Angela’s mixed Nigerian and Ukrainian heritage informs her perspective and commitment to equity and representation. She is vice chair of a staff network within her public sector organisation that advocates for racial equity and an inclusive workplace culture.

Angela brings to the board a unique blend of career and voluntary work, public sector insight, and lived experience to support children and families—especially those impacted by social inequality.

In her personal time, Angela has a keen interest in developing her Russian language skills, she speaks conversational Russian and is working towards fluency. Angela is a keen runner and had completed four marathons, including two of the prestigious Marathon Majors—London and Berlin—and half-marathons, including three Great North Runs.
