Lincoln
4-year-old Lincoln was born with a Congenital Heart Defect and has been under our care since day one. Since then, he has already undergone two open-heart surgeries at Alder Hey, but his infectious optimism and positivity is apparent to everyone at the hospital who has the good fortune of meeting him!
Lincoln and his mum Tanya asked his school, Parish C of E in St Helens, if they would get involved and raise some money during Congenital Heart Defect Week. Lincoln’s school hosted a Wear Something Red Day and his nursery classmates had a Red Party Day. They wore red ribbons, cookies and sweets and managed to raise an incredible £500. Lincoln’s dad also arranged a collection at work raising an extra £40 towards Lincoln’s fundraising total.
Lincoln’s mum Tanya said:
“Lincoln has a complex Congenital Heart Defect and Heterotaxy Syndrome RAI and has been under Alder Hey's care from day one - without them he wouldn't be alive today. I can't thank Alder Hey and their cardiac team enough for what they have done for our son and how well they have looked after him during his numerous stays and appointments so far. They have given us almost four and half years with him and hopefully many more. For me as his mum this has been a major bonus because he's undergone nine months of numerous tests which had set him back to where he didn't want to come to the hospital for fear of more needles and stickers (ECG). He is finally in a good place and even excited when he knows he's coming to Alder Hey again.”
