Ivy
Ivy was first treated at Alder Hey in December 2016 as a new-born. She has Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome and has had 3 open heart surgeries at Alder Hey to date as well as surgeries for a PEG and MIC-KEY button.
Ivy loves all the staff at Alder Hey and has fond memories of the nurses and surgeons that have looked after her. She also loves taking part in events at Alder Hey like the Christmas Light Switch On, Oli’s Safari Walk and feeling part of the Alder Hey community. It has become a special place for Ivy despite holding some difficult memories but Ivy only focuses on the positives about the hospital. She also loves visiting the tin man and buying items from the Atrium shop, as well as making her own items to donate to the shop.
The surgeons at Alder Hey have saved her life and she has received excellent care at Alder Hey and Ivy wanted to give something back to the people and hospital that has taken care of her. Each year since her first birthday Ivy has also held a Festive Fundraiser where she has collected new books, Disney cuddly toys, gift bags, new toys and set up JustGiving pages during the Covid years. Ivy has also completed various raffles to raise money for Alder Hey.
