Henri

Henri spent a month in Alder Hey during Christmas 2022, after he was found to have an infection in his brain. During his time at Alder Hey he had three operations to drain and remove the infection. In 2023, Henri completed 10 months of fundraising and returned to Alder Hey on the one year anniversary of his first admittance to the hospital to hand over his cheque in which he raised £25,700.

Ivy has been a patient of Alder Hey since she was a newborn. She spent her first Christmas and birthday at the hospital and it has since become a very special place for her.

In December last year, Henri complained of a headache, and doctors at Henri’s local hospital diagnosed him with a viral infection. His mum Carly demanded further tests be done, after which Henri was found to have an infection on his brain, caused by Strep A.

Henri was then rushed to Alder Hey, where he underwent neurosurgery to remove the infection. During his time at Alder Hey, Henri bravely endured two Craniotomy procedures and one aspiration surgery, before spending time recovering on Ward 4A. After 4 weeks, Henri was allowed to be discharged.

Since then, he and his family have been committed to raising crucial funds for Alder Hey, as a thank you for everything they have done for Henry. Over the course of 2023, Henri and his family held countless fundraising events and challenges, collectively raising £25,700. Carly said: “We initially wanted to raise £2000, but after we achieved that almost immediately, we just wanted to see how far we could go with this. We are all so delighted that Henri has been able to raise so much money for such an incredible hospital, it really is like no other hospital, and we just want other families like ours to be able to receive the same care and support that we have.”
