About the Letters
What is a Letter from Santa?
A personalised letter from Santa Claus, posted directly to your child's home. Each letter includes your child's name, something they're doing well at, a gift they're hoping for, and their location – details only Santa would know!
How much does it cost?
We ask for a suggested donation of £5 per letter. Every penny of your £5 donation goes directly to Alder Hey Children's Charity to support children, young people and families who are patients at Alder Hey Children's Hospital.
What age is this suitable for?
Our letters are perfect for children who still believe in the magic of Santa – typically ages 3-10, though every child is different! The letter is written to capture that special sense of Christmas wonder.
Can I order multiple letters?
Absolutely! You can order as many letters as you'd like. Simply fill in a separate form for each child, with a £5 donation per letter.
Ordering & Personalisation
What information do I need to provide?
You'll need:
- Child's name
- Something they're doing well at (hobby, achievement, or good behaviour)
- A gift they're hoping for this Christmas
- Delivery address (UK only)
- Your contact details
What if I don't know what gift my child wants?
You can put something general like "toys," "books," "something special," or even "a surprise" – Santa keeps some mystery!
I'm a grandparent/aunt/uncle ordering – is that okay?
Of course! We love that you're spreading Christmas magic. If you're not the child's parent or guardian, please do let them know you've ordered a letter so it's not a complete surprise when it arrives.
Can I see the letter before it's sent?
The letter follows a set format to maintain the magic, but you can rest assured it will include all the personal details you provide in a warm, festive message from Santa himself.
Delivery
When will the letter arrive?
Letters are posted to arrive in time for Christmas. We recommend ordering by Sunday 14th December to guarantee delivery before Christmas Eve.
Do you deliver outside the UK?
Unfortunately, we can only post letters to UK addresses at this time.
Can I track my letter?
Letters are sent via next day second class post, so tracking isn't available. If your letter hasn't arrived after 5 working days, please contact us and we'll look into it for you.
What if I've made a mistake with the address?
Please contact us as soon as possible at info@alderheycharity.org and we'll do our best to help, though we can't guarantee changes once letters have been posted.

Where does my donation go?
Every penny of your £5 donation goes directly to Alder Hey Children's Charity to support children, young people and families who are patients at Alder Hey Children's Hospital.
Will I receive a receipt?
Yes, you'll receive an email confirmation of your donation after you've completed your order.
Can I donate more than £5?
Absolutely! If you'd like to make an additional donation to help even more children at Alder Hey, you can increase your donation amount when you order.

Is this a physical letter?
Yes! This is a real, physical letter that will be posted through your letterbox, making it extra special for your child to open.
What if my child no longer believes in Santa?
While our letters are designed for believers in Santa's magic, older children often still appreciate the gesture and the tradition. Use your judgement based on your child.
