After registration, please allow 15 business days for your shoelaces to arrive.

Is there a deadline to register?

Registrations will remain open until midnight on 30th June. Please register as soon as possible to avoid missing out!

Are there any age requirements to take part in the challenge?

No, there is no minimum or maximum age, but we do want people to feel comfortable and safe. If you are under 18, you will need permission from a parent or guardian to participate.

Donations

Can I donate to my own page?

Yes, we actually recommend that! Lead by example and ask your friends and family to do the same!

Can one person donate more than once?

Yes, there are no limits on how many donations one person can make.

My friends don’t have Facebook. Can they still donate to my fundraiser?

Yes absolutely! Share your JustGiving page with your friends and family for them to make a donation.

How much do I have to fundraise?

The JustGiving pages are automatically set-up with a target amount of £150. However, any and all support you can offer goes a long way towards helping Alder Hey give the best possible patient experience to the 1200 children, young people and families it cares for every day.

How much do I have to fundraise to receive my rewards?

Everyone who registers for the challenge will receive a free pair of Alder Hey shoelaces, just for joining the Step into Summer team. You will receive a t-shirt as a thank you when you raise £100, and a medal as a thank you when you raise £150.

My page still has no donations. How do I make people donate?

Try sharing your fundraising page with all your friends and post about your challenge daily. You could also make a donation to your own page to show your support and share why the cause is important to you. Either way, you are spreading awareness about Alder Hey Children’s Charity.

My friend is in a different country and wants to donate, is that possible?

Yes, absolutely. If they would prefer, they can donate directly to Alder Hey Children’s Charity on their website.

I have collected money offline, how can I send these donations?

You can donate the amount to your own Fundraising Page online, if you have the cash. Alternatively, you can send a cheque that is payable to Alder Hey Children’s Charity to Alder Hey Children’s Charity, Eaton Road, Liverpool, L12 2AP.

About this challenge

How do I track my progress?

You will receive an activity tracker sheet in the post, which you can use to track your progress. If you already have a fitness tracker, feel free to use this too. Why not post a daily update to your fundraising page to keep track of your progress, but also update your supporters?

Can I start early or finish later?

We ask for the challenge to be completed in June, but we understand that other responsibilities can be in the way.

Can I do more than 100km?

If you feel like you can do more than 100km, yes you can!

What if I fail to complete the challenge?

We would love to see everyone complete the challenge, but we understand that circumstances can change. Please don’t force yourself if you feel unable to complete the challenge.

If I get injured, can I finish later or give up?

Unfortunately, with physical challenges, injuries are likely to happen. Please seek medical advice if you experience any discomfort and always follow health guidelines.

Do I have to provide proof of completion?

Absolutely not, we trust you! It is, however, a great idea to post updates on your progress to your fundraising page to let your supporters know how you’re getting on with your challenge.

I am feeling sore. Can I stop for one day and keep going later on?

Feeling sore can happen when taking up a challenge like this. Please allow yourself a day or more of rest, stretch before and after your activity and seek medical help if necessary.

What if I can’t complete the challenge?

That is absolutely fine, we know that life can get in the way. Don’t feel discouraged. We are grateful for your support and help in building awareness!

What if I have any more questions about this challenge?

If you have any more questions, feel free to drop a message in the Facebook group, where one of our friendly team will be able to support you.
