Ruben White has had his young life transformed thanks to a special scanner at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital – the only one of its kind in Europe.
When he was just one year old Ruben began having seizures, sometimes more than 20 in a single day. A scan at Alder Hey revealed a small lesion on his brain and in May 2012, Ruben had surgery to remove the lesion. He has not had a seizure since.
Ruben is a Young Ambassador for Alder Hey Children’s Charity. Ruben’s family are keen to help other families in a similar situation and have raised money for Alder Hey Children's Charity.
Ruben’s mum, Ann Marie explains: “Alder Hey was the first place where people really listened and helped us. It is such a special place. From the canteen ladies who ask you how you are in the restaurant to the consultants and the nurses on the ward, there was a fantastic support network for all our family. I remember our family arriving at the hospital en masse and everyone looked after us. I can’t speak highly enough about the place – it’s revolutionised our life.”
