Freddy was just two when he was diagnosed with Leukaemia. After becoming unwell in 2012 he was referred to Alder Hey for tests who confirmed his diagnosis.
He received a course of intense chemotherapy at the hospital and is now undertaking maintenance treatment.
In an effort to show their gratitude to the hospital that saved their son’s life, Freddy’s entire family launched a major fund-raising effort.
‘Team Fred’ has since raised thousands of pounds for Alder Hey by taking part in all kinds of activities including the Race for Life, half marathons, a 38-mile run from Manchester to Liverpool, a 40 mile bike ride, zip wires, sky dives, head shaves and cake sales.
Freddy is a Young Charity Ambassador for Alder Hey Children’s Charity and as a part of his role has already rubbed shoulders with the likes of Steven Gerrard and A P McCoy.
