Scouse 5K

Event Ended This event has now finished.

The Scouse 5K, organised by Mersey Races, is one of the most inclusive and colourful of Liverpool's 5K races. Taking place in Liverpool's iconic city centre, this race welcomes all ages and abilities, so you can get running with the kids, your mates or just walk the course if that's what you want to do. Each participant will get a colourful wig to wear on the day and the organisers stress that comedy moustaches and hilarious spectacles are encouraged.

The Scouse 5k run is a great run to sign up for if you are new to running or just want to have a fun day legging it around Liverpool’s streets. Dressing up is encouraged and you can bring the kids along. If your little ones are too small to run or walk the course, you can push them in their pram. The course is fully wheelchair accessible and everyone will be encouraged along by plenty of music and live performers, as well as our marshals.

Running for charity is a great way to give purpose to your race. If you are planning on running the Scouse 5K, then why not raise money for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital? Any money you or your team raises will go towards funding specialist medical equipment or cutting-edge technology, such as distraction equipment that has been designed and proven to reduce anxiety and pain in our patients. Find out how you can run for Alder Hey here.

If the Scouse 5K is your challenge for Alder Hey, here's the four key steps you should take now:

  1. Email us or call us on 0151 252 5716 with your name, address and details of your charity running event.
  2. Help friends, family and colleagues support you easily by sponsoring you online. Set up a free online donation page with JustgivingVirgin Money Giving or My Donate - they all automatically transfer the money you've raised to us after your charity running event.
  3. Check out our downloads page for a fundraising pack and an offline sponsorship form.
  4. Spread the word and start preparing! Use your social networks and community organisations to let people know what you're doing - you can share your online donation page really easily on Facebook and Twitter.
