We are grateful to our corporate partners who have generously contributed to Alder Hey's mission to become a world leader in children's healthcare.
This support is already making a real difference to families every day, in many ways. As well as this valuable contribution, our corporate partners have told us they have experienced real benefits from a relationship with Alder Hey.
If your business or organisation would like to talk about partnering with us at this very exciting time in Alder Hey's history, our team would love to chat.
Matalan - a partnership built on shared values
The Hargreaves family and Matalan have been part of the Alder Hey family for over a decade. The relationship we have is a genuine one; one built on a joint vision to provide the best healthcare for children. Matalan is a friend you can call upon when you need some help and the answer is always YES!
One example of this was when we were given feedback by some of our patients that the theatres in our new hospital were too clinical and a little scary. Within a matter of days of picking up the phone to Matalan, they had found a solution.
This is what Alder Hey and Matalan are all about; sharing values to care for children and their families. Thank you for your support. Alder Hey just wouldn’t be the same without you!
"Now in its fourth year, I am incredibly proud of our partnership with Alder Hey Children's Charity which has seen us raise over £1.6 million for this amazing cause”, says Jason Hargreaves, Matalan CEO. "
The work the charity is doing is so important, the partnership allows us to be part of something truly special, family is at the heart of our business so to be able to support such a worthy cause is an honour”.
Christmas Campaign 2017
This years #GetSpotted campaign built on the retailer’s previous Christmas fundraising appeal, Striped PJ's, which raised more than £1.6m combined and was backed by celebrities including Abby Clancy, Justin Bieber and Britney Spears.
The money raised went towards the development of the hospital’s new state-of-the-art research centre that is instrumental in saving the lives of
Clare White, Alder Hey Children’s Charity said: “Matalan’s continued support is invaluable for the work we do. With the money raised so far, we have been able to invest heavily into our research centre, which is having a direct and positive impact on our patients. Through this collaboration with Matalan it has also helped raise national awareness for the work we are doing across the hospital.”
The money was raised through activities organised by staff such as the Three Peaks Challenge, choir performances, retro gaming competitions, abseiling and baking. Everyone’s commitment to reaching (and exceeding!) the fundraising target was overwhelming!
Members of Shop Direct’s multi-award winning e-commerce team are also working with Alder Hey’s Innovation Team to form an advisory panel and develop the app, providing expert insight and advice on design, development and personalisation.
The incredibly generous donation from Shop Direct, along with their expertise, has enabled us to make this project a reality and we are very grateful for their support! We are also very proud our partnership with Shop Direct and other partners, won the Most Innovative Collaboration Award at the North West Coast Research and Innovation Awards Evening, so a huge thank you to all involved!
Liverpool John Lennon Airport
Our partnership with Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) launched in October 2016 with a village fete theme in one of the airport hangars. Teams from across the airport worked tirelessly to transform the hangar, and launched our partnership with a fantastic event on the village green - complete with ice cream van, games and fire engines!
Since then, we have had so much fun with staff from across the airport; from cycling to Lapland through to serving bowls of scouse at the airport fire station. They are an inspirational group of people, always willing to help, always suggesting innovative fundraising ideas and with endless enthusiasm. So far, thousands of pounds have been raised for Alder Hey and we can’t wait to see what they come up with next!
The partnership aims to raise £200,000 towards the next phase of development of the Digital Alder Hey App. The journeys that our patients and their families go on at Alder Hey are very different from the journeys embarked upon from the LJLA but many of the principles are the same.
The Digital Alder Hey app will enhance the experience of patients and families, supporting them on their journey through care by helping them to be better informed, calmer and entertained. LJLA colleagues are also working closely with Alder Hey Children’s Charity on a project to improve the patient journey through the hospital, as well as providing expertise in the Human Factors element of training in our theatres.
