Neonatal babies who need to have emergency surgery, need the love and care of their family more than ever. Often, however, the care neonatal babies require means their parents can’t always stay by their side and inevitably families are separated during a critical and vulnerable time for tiny babies.
Alder Hey Children’s Hospital is creating a new surgical neonatal facility in partnership with Liverpool Women’s Hospital which will make it possible to keep neonatal babies and families together during neonatal care. The unit will be the first of its kind in the UK to support family integrated care, which has been well evidenced to improve the medical and developmental outcomes for babies.
Your support will help us to provide ‘over and above’ enhancements and equipment for both the clinical space and family areas, elevating the new Neonatal unit from a facility that provides families with a safe and secure environment for their newborns, to a truly world-class facility that wraps around families with the most vulnerable babies.
