Superstar Henri raises over £25,000 for Alder Hey!
We would like to send a huge thank you to ten-year-old Henri Brammer, who, along with his family, has raised an astonishing £25,700 for Alder Hey over the past ten months!
In December last year, Henri complained of a headache, which his mum Carly initially put down to festive excitement. However, after doctors at Henri’s local hospital diagnosed him with a viral infection, Carly demanded further tests be done, where Henri was found to have an infection on his brain, caused by Strep A.
Henri was then rushed to Alder Hey, where he underwent neurosurgery to remove the infection. During his time at Alder Hey, Henri bravely endured two Craniotomy procedures and one aspiration surgery, before spending time recovering on Ward 4A. After 4 weeks, Henri was allowed to be discharged, albeit after missing out on Christmas and New Year celebrations at home.
Since then, he and his family have been committed to raising crucial funds for Alder Hey, as a thank you for everything they have done for Henry. Between 31st January and 1st December, Henri and his family have held countless fundraising events and challenges, collectively raising £25,700. Carly said: “We initially wanted to raise £2000, but after we achieved that almost immediately, we just wanted to see how far we could go with this. We are all so delighted that Henri has been able to raise so much money for such an incredible hospital, it really is like no other hospital, and we just want other families like ours to be able to receive the same care and support that we have.”
“I want to say thank you to every member of staff at Alder Hey, from the surgeons to the cleaners on the wards, the care we received was unbelievable and everyone made such an effort to make sure we were ok.”
When asked if we could expect to hear further updates of Henri’s fundraising journey, Carly said: “Absolutely! We are still planning to hold regular fundraising events like we have been doing this year, and all the money will be going straight to Alder Hey Children’s Charity. Alder Hey saved our son’s life and this is the least we could do to thank them.”
