Staff Spotlight – Meet Cath!
Staff Spotlight: Meet Cath, Head of Community Fundraising!
Our Staff Spotlight insight into our Charity’s amazing Community Fundraising team continues this week as we caught up with Cath, Head of Community Fundraising here at Alder Hey Charity. From unicycles to world record attempts, this week’s Q&A certainly has it all! Here’s what Cath had to say…
What’s the best thing about working for Alder Hey Charity?
The people (patients, staff, and families) and despite the cliché – how no two days are ever the same!
What’s one thing you can’t live without?
Sunglasses. I am rarely seen without a pair!
Tell us something about yourself that not many people know?
I own a unicycle and I am currently learning how to DJ.
What’s the strangest way you have seen somebody fundraise for Alder Hey?
Where to start?
I’m not sure about the strangest, but some of the most innovative that come to mind over the past decade include climbing 62,000ft on a stepper into ‘space’, swimming the English Channel, driving 100 festive tractors around Liverpool, achieving a world record with the most people joined together running a 5K, and a ‘tattooathon’. And that’s just to name a few!
What’s your favourite fundraising event?
I really enjoy all of our fundraising events but my all-time personal favourite was probably the Vietnam to Cambodia bike ride in 2017. I love a challenge and have a keen sense of adventure and like all of our overseas challenges it was an incredible experience with some fabulous people and we also raised over £75,000!
