Southport Kidney Fund donate £28,350 to Alder Hey
Alder Hey Children’s Charity have recently received two wonderful donations from the Southport Kidney Fund, who have generously given us £18,350 for the purchase of a Prismaflex machine, as well as a further £10,000 for our renal ward at the hospital!
Southport Kidney Fund, who have been providing valued support to Southport residents suffering with kidney failure since 1979, were inspired to fundraise for Alder Hey due to close personal ties with one of the volunteers.
We spoke to Erica, who said: “Our connection to Alder Hey is through Zac and I, as he has been a kidney patient at the hospital since he was two years old, and he is now seventeen.
Zac found out about the need for the equipment whilst he was on dialysis and told me how great it would be to get involved. I went to my committee and luckily they had also seen the appeal online so we jumped at the chance to help in any way we could. We are so pleased to have been able to spread awareness about chronic kidney disease (CKD) and dialysis, whilst also helping to make a difference for the children at the hospital.”
Thank you so much to everyone at Southport Kidney Fund for their generosity and goodwill, the donations we have received will go a long way to making a life-changing difference for the renal patients at our hospital.
