Reach for the stars in aid of Alder Hey Children’s Charity!
In 2019 Fryers Roses, part of the Blue Diamond Group, launched a rose in aid of Alder Hey Children’s Charity. The Reach for the Stars rose is of the large flowered, nostalgic climbing style with the colour changing from apricot-yellow to peach when opening.
It was launched at the world’s biggest flower show at Hampton Court Palace - the venue that is also home to the annual Roses Festival.
For every charity rose purchased, £1 will be donated to Alder Hey. This will help support children’s wishes for a greener Alder Hey by helping to enhance the distinctive outdoor play decks on the hospital wards. Enjoyed by young patients and their families, these safe, open spaces provide areas where children can play outdoors safely even when being treated in hospital over long periods.
Alder Hey Children’s Hospital has been designed to ensure that every patient has access to green space and/or views of the surrounding parkland. During a consultation for the design back in 2009, over 900 young patients drew pictures and shared their ideas on what the new hospital should look like. An overwhelming number of the ideas stemmed from nature, greenery and natural light, including a flower picture drawn by patient Eleanor Brogan, whose design was part of the final brief to architects.
You can help support children’s wishes for a greener Alder Hey by purchasing your Reach for the Stars rose via the Fryer’s Roses website here.
