National Apprentice Week - say hello to Alex

As part of National Apprenticeship Week, Alder Hey Children’s Charity is celebrating the fantastic staff members who are also enrolled in Apprenticeship Training.

Alex Cook, who has recently started studying a Professional Accounting Technician Apprenticeship (AAT Level 4) at Riverside College in Runcorn is our Finance Assistant. Alex attends college every Tuesday, and this course is helping to build his skills, knowledge, and behaviours in synergy with his work experience in our busy finance office.

Alex is hoping that this Apprenticeship training will help to equip him with all of the essential skills and learning that he will need to build a long and successful career in the field of accounting and finance.

“I have just started my Level 4 course under the apprenticeship training scheme, and I am really enjoying the learning. I am very lucky and grateful that I work for an amazing children’s charity which is helping me to achieve my long-term aspirations and ambitions as a finance professional. I started working for the charity just under a year ago and I have already learned so much, but this training will help to further enhance my skills and give my personal development a great boost”. Sarah Fletcher, Director of Finance and Operations at the charity said, “It is great to support our staff through Apprenticeship Training and the charity also reaps the benefits from an upskilled workforce. I’d like to say a special thank you to Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust who have made this possible for our staff by their generous gifting of the apprenticeship levy which has supported this training.”
