Local indie coffee experts Bean sponsor Oli’s Safari Walk
We are delighted to announce Bean Coffee Roasters as official sponsors of this year’s Alder Hey Charity Oli Safari Walk, taking place on Sunday 15th May at Knowsley Safari Park.
Our partnership with Bean started in 2019 when they took to the water at our annual Dragon Boat Race and keeps going from strength to strength.
Director of Bean, Jon Whyte, said:
“We have reflected a lot over the last couple of years and realised we are about many things but essentially just two, great coffee and people. We wondered about how we could get in the middle of our customers and a charity that does great work. And this is how. Every single person in Liverpool has got a story about Alder Hey. What we didn’t realise was how much they rely on the actual fundraising to fund projects and a lot of innovation and work that goes on there."
Bean’s Operations Manager Adam Meyers visited Alder Hey to learn about the work we do and how the money raised by Alder Hey Charity makes a difference to 900 brave young patients every day.
Jon continued:
“Adam went to look at the new centre Alder Hey are building, and he came back absolutely blown away and enthused by what he heard and saw, and he said we had to get involved.”
In March 2022, Bean launched a special edition coffee, donating £5 from every pack sold to Alder Hey Children Charity. The Brazilian coffee is sourced from the Barbosa family, whose farm Jon visited in 2018, and the striking packaging features our very own Oli!
So far, Bean have sold 534 bags of our limited edition collaboration coffee, raising a whopping £2670 so far. The coffee is available to buy online, as well as in Bean coffee shops and through other indie businesses across the community, including SKAUS on Allerton Road.
Dan Cameron, SKAUS co-founder said:
"The Alder Hey Special Edition coffee has been so popular with our customers since we got them in stock. Liverpool is notoriously supportive of its own and Alder Hey is one of the most powerful forces for good the city has to offer. Not only are they being sold for a good cause, but the Brazilian Dbarbosa blend is deliciously rich and chocolatey which means you'll be drinking great coffee for a great cause. I think everybody in the city has a connection to the hospital in some way so we're incredibly proud to do our bit in whatever we can to support!"
We have lots of plans for the future with our friends at Bean and the difference they are making here at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital is truly amazing.
Alder Hey Charity Corporate Fundraiser, Becky Parsons, added
“We were absolutely delightedly to be approached by Bean for this exciting partnership, and the team have been wonderful to work with. There is such a lovely feeling when you walk into a Bean Coffee shop, you can tell that the staff love what they do! And that’s the same at Alder Hey. Our staff are equally passionate about their jobs, giving every child outstanding care. We are very lucky to have friends like Bean, and I can’t wait to see how the Alder Hey Coffee looks on the shelves!”
Thank you to all the Bean staff, suppliers and customers who have got behind our fantastic collaboration. We can’t wait to see what the future holds!
