Alder Hey Children's Charity is pround to partner with JOHNSON’S® Baby for the second year.
JOHNSON’S® Baby once again join forces with Alder Hey to support our Surgical Neonatal Appeal to help keep families together in neonatal care. The partnership will help towards funding Family Integrated Care Rooms in the new surgical neonatal unit at Alder Hey, so parents and babies can stay together as a family for those important first moments.
Money towards the new family integrated care rooms at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital from the partnership will be raised through a pence-per-pack donation on limited-edition packs of the well-loved Classics products: JOHNSON'S® Baby Shampoo, JOHNSON'S® Baby Oil and JOHNSON'S® Baby Lotion, in stores and online, whilst stocks last. Additional funds will be raised via social campaign.
Alder Hey Children’s Hospital is one of the biggest and busiest children’s hospitals in Europe and is recognised as one of the world’s leaders in children’s healthcare and research, however there is a very specific challenge in neonatal care as babies are usually delivered just under 4 miles away at Liverpool Women’s Hospital. Any neonatal baby that requires surgery must travel to Alder Hey via ambulance, and travel again transferring back to the Women’s Hospital after surgery. As the hospitals are geographically separated, this inevitably means that families are separated during a critical and vulnerable time for tiny babies. At present, there is no facility for parents to stay in the neonatal unit with their babies at such a critical time.
Alder Hey and Liverpool Women’s Hospital are working in partnership to change and improve how neonatal services are delivered to families, and the result is the development of a new state-of-the-art Surgical Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Alder Hey. The design of this new unit will make it possible to keep neonatal babies and families together during neonatal care. Neonatal babies have special medical needs, but they also need the care of their parents too. The new unit will be the first of its kind in the UK to support family integrated care, which has been well evidenced to improve the medical and developmental outcomes for babies. This keeps families at the heart of everything, providing the opportunity for parents to look after their children without being separated. Staying close to their fragile newborn, parents are central to the care pathway, creating natural bonds and learning how to care for their poorly baby – the new unit can facilitate this, all within close reach of specialists.
JOHNSON’S® Baby is proud to partner with Alder Hey and contribute towards the building of the new neonatal unit because we understand that the first moments a parent shares with their newborn are precious and an important part of creating natural bonds. For neonatal babies, these moments and the love and care of their family, are more important than ever.
JOHNSON'S® want to create a world where every baby thrives. This partnership between Alder Hey and JOHNSON'S® can help Alder Hey make this dream a reality for babies and their families, ensuring that parents and baby can stay together as a family for those important first moments. They deserve to be by each other’s side every step of the way.
