Fundraiser of the Month - Caitlin from Leeds!

We are delighted to announce our Fundraiser of the Month award for November is 11 year old Caitlin from Leeds!

Caitlin has already raised a whopping £1600 for Alder Hey Children’s Charity, smashing the £1000 target she set herself. Not only has she raised an incredible total to help our brave young patients, but she did so through a sponsored haircut. Caitlin donated 17 inches of her long locks to the Little Princess Trust who provide free wigs for children and young people who have lost their own hair.

Caitlin was inspired to fundraise for Alder Hey as her cousin is currently being treated at our hospital. Caitlin said:

“I want to raise money for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital because my cousin is being treated there. He has leukaemia and they have looked after him really well. I was shocked that I was able to raise so much money! It felt amazing because I’ve never done anything like that before and it’s a really nice feeling knowing that the money is going to such a good cause.”

The ‘Big Hair Cut’ took place during October half term and we think that her new style looks amazing!

Caitlin explained:

“I have always had long hair. My mum could put it into amazing plaits, but it can get really tangly! I donated my hair because I want to help children who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment, or other conditions.”

From everyone here at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, a HUGE thank you to inspirational Caitlin and thank you to all her friends and family who have supported her super kind fundraiser!

Caitlin asked us to include a special message from her too!

“I want to say a big thank you to everyone who donated. It’s lovely to see how many people cared and I think the money I raised will make a big difference!”
