It’s not easy to write about Easter without including an egg-cellent pun or two, but as donations of chocolate treats poured in to the hospital this week it’s been brilliant to see the excitement of our young patients as we begin handing out donations of Easter eggs.
It might be the first Easter in our new hospital, but some things never change: we’ve yet again been blown away by the generosity of people like you who have collected and delivered sweet treats for our patients.
In the past week, in addition to many of you dropping into our Charity shop in the atrium, we’ve taken huge deliveries of chocolate eggs from Merseyside Police and a 300-strong motorcycle club!
A huge thank you to everyone who has taken part. For those of you looking to do something similar to support Alder Hey, could we interest you in an alternative to give more of our patients the best possible Easter?
Not all the young people who stay with us can eat chocolate – some have allergies, health conditions or are here for surgery – so we would really appreciate:
- Donating craft items for children to use over the Easter period
- Donating the cash equivalent of the price of an Easter egg so we can buy arts and crafts materials for patients (we can provide collection boxes).
Thank you so much for your support.
