Blues support Alder Hey’s Together campaign
Everton players wear pyjamas and enjoy a brew in support of campaign’s sixth year
Everton players from across the Club have shown their support for this year’s #TogetherForAlderHey campaign by modelling items from their range.
Defenders Gabrielle George and Georgia Brougham, forward Simone Magill and Goalkeeper Kirstie Levell tried on this year’s eagerly-awaited pyjamas for size, while defender Lucas Digne, forward Alex Iwobi, and goalkeeper Jordan Pickford tested out the campaign’s iconic mug.
#TogetherForAlderHey centres upon the connections built every day at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, from patients and doctors to volunteers and parents, and how loving support is shown across the entire Alder Hey community.
This year’s product range, available in Matalan, includes unisex adult and children’s PJs, a babygrow, bed socks, an eye mask and mug, all with a colourful print made up of figures holding hands and Alder Hey’s iconic Oli the Elephant.
The design is a celebration of togetherness, putting the people and the hospital at the heart of the print. 100% of the profits from the campaign will go to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital Charity.
To show support for the hospital and this year’s campaign, people are also being asked to share pictures of themselves holding hands with friends and family, wearing their Alder Hey Pyjamas and using the hashtag #TogetherForAlderHey. Together the images will form a long chain of people across social media, showing how far and wide the support for Alder Hey spans.
Money raised so far by the annual campaign has gone to fund a range of activities and projects that are designed to enhance and improve the lives of their young patients.
This includes the funding of specialist medical equipment, ward musicians, an onsite magician and play specialists and a chef programme to deliver healthy and nutritionally balanced food to all patients. Funds have also helped support a new research and education facility.
Everton Women’s striker Simone Magill said: “I see Everton as a family Club, and it is fantastic to see Alder Hey celebrating everyone that makes their community what it is, from doctors to volunteers. Alder Hey does truly amazing work and leads the way internationally. I am proud to be involved in this year’s #TogetherForAlderHey campaign will be wearing my Alder Hey pyjamas with pride!”
Fiona Ashcroft, CEO of Alder Hey Children’s Charity said: “We are really grateful to Everton Football Club for their involvement in this year’s #TogetherForAlderHey Matalan campaign. The Club has continued to be an incredible supporter to Alder Hey over many years and we hope this will encourage all Everton supporters to get their PJs on and post a selfie!”
