And they're off!

A brand new Alder Hey Children’s Charity 10k has been announced and you can join in!

The event takes place on Sunday 15th August 2021 at Haydock Park Racecourse and will see participants take in a location with fantastic history and a completely enclosed facility. The course, which is set in an area of parkland, has been a historic home for horseracing as far back as the early 19th Century – with the current racecourse opened in 1899. The Running Bee Foundation will be partnering with the charity to run a 10k running event at the Haydock Park Racecourse with all profits going to assist the hospital. Standard Entry (inc chip timing) is just £18.00 with Club Runner Entry (inc chip timing) at £16.00

Adam Dixon, Community Fundraiser at Alder Hey Children’s Charity said: “We are so excited to be working with Running Bee Foundation after a difficult 18 months when our fundraising events had to be cancelled. This had a huge impact on our fundraising, leaving us short of vital income for Alder Hey. Exercise is proven to benefit mental health and this event is the perfect opportunity to lace up your running shoes and enjoy a fantastic day out. We can’t wait to see you all!”

Alder Hey Children’s Charity report that 70% of young people with a mental health condition in the UK are currently missing out on vital mental health interventions. Money raised from the Alder Hey Children’s Charity 10k at Haydock Park Racecourse will help go towards enhancing inpatient and community mental health services at Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust, enabling more children to access the treatment they need at the time they need it.

Kevin Harmer from the Running Bee Foundation, said: “Children and young people have had an exceptionally challenging time during the pandemic – with limited face-to-face contact, coming to grips with e-learning and being separated from their regular school environment. We are thrilled to be able to be working with the Charity to help raise funds to ensure children and young people can access the mental health assistance they need is a project we consider essential”.

All finishers will receive a commemorative Alder Hey Children’s Charity 10k at Haydock Park Racecourse finishers medal.
