Alder Hey's Louise Barrett has been named as one of the country’s most inspiring individuals by travel company SuperBreak.
Louise (pictured on the right), who is a corporate fundraiser for Alder Hey Children’s Charity, won the ‘SuperFun’ category of SuperBreaks campaign to celebrate the UK's unsung superheroes.
Louise beat hundreds of entries to be crowned winner and receives an unforgettable ‘thank you’, courtesy of the short break specialist.
She was nominated by the Donna Connett who is mum to Alder Hey Charity Ambassador Lewis Connett (pictured) for going above and beyond to help bring a smile to the faces of the young people in the hospital’s care.
Committing her own time to supporting events and visiting the patients, Louise helps bring joy to kids and their parents. In fact, 'you can’t help but be happy when you are in her company.'
To say thank you, SuperBreak is sending her on a fun-filled break to London with tickets to popular attractions Madame Tussauds and the London Eye.
Louise said: “Spending time in hospital can be challenging when you’re young, so I always try to give the children something to smile about. I’m really humbled to have been nominated for this award as I don’t do it for the recognition, I just want to try and help in any way I can. It really does mean so much to me and I can’t wait to head to London for a fun weekend getaway with some friends.”
The national search, which was launched back in October, also called for people to nominate their loved ones for the categories of SuperCaring, SuperBrave and SuperRomantic, with one winner being selected from each.
Jacquie Fisher at SuperBreak said: “We were truly blown away by the many amazing nominations we received as part of the SuperHeroes campaign. There are a huge number of people going above and beyond in their own way, whether it be caring for someone else, or overcoming adversity themselves and it has been both a privilege and humbling experience to read through all of the entries.
“Louise is the kind of person that everyone needs in their lives. Having someone in your circle that you can rely on to bring light to any situation is valuable, even more so when facing adversity. We hope that this break to London will help Louise relax and enjoy some well-deserved ‘me’ time!”
