Liverpool Live Aid is BACK!
We would like to give a huge thank you to our lovely friends at Liverpool Live Aid who are back for their second ever event fundraising for our amazing hospital, as well as Shelter Merseyside.
The event will take place on Sunday 16th April at the Adelphi Hotel in Liverpool from 1pm so be sure to get your hands on a ticket! There will be over 20 local acts and groups which are made up of over 90 individual artists who will cover many genres of music popular on Merseyside!
Event co-organiser Tony Cook said: “I came up with the idea after a dream I had during lockdown. I spoke to my band mate Brian Ambrose and we developed the idea of doing a socially distanced video to include lots of our musician friends who at that time were unable to work”.
In 2020 they brought together a variety of artists from across Liverpool and created their version of the Band Aid single Do They Know it’s Christmas.
Tony said:
"We had official approval from the original writers and publishers, Bob Geldof and Warner Music. It reached No11 in the charts before Christmas 2020, when the music industry was in lockdown due to the pandemic". He added: "It felt like unfinished business so I wanted to have a live event featuring most of the artists and bands that appeared in the video. Live Aid Liverpool had its inaugural event in November 2021 involving over 70 artists."
Their last event raised almost £6,000 for Alder Hey and Shelter Merseyside. Any money raised this year for our hospital will go towards our new Surgical Neonatal Unit which will prioritise keeping families together in a comfortable and nurturing environment during one of the most challenging times of their lives.
As if that were not enough there will also be a raffle at the event with some amazing prizes ranging from meals out, signed football shirts and more including one or two surprises! One of the acts this year will be a Queen tribute band who will recreate the 1985 Live Aidset.
Soul Jam who performed at the first event said:
"The atmosphere was incredible both on stage and backstage. We are and always will be a special city when it comes to trying to make a difference for those less fortunate and for our local children’s hospital which we’ve all got a special place in our hearts".
