Volunteer Role Description – Young Trustee

Purpose

To support strategic decisions, help shape engagement with young people and families, and champion inclusion and innovation across the charity’s work.

Key activities

  • Support the board and Senior Leadership Team in shaping impactful strategy for Alder Hey Children’s Charity.
  • Work with our board to guide positive change and impact for young people and families.
  • Champion inclusion and innovation across the charity.
  • Act as a strong, youthful voice on the charity’s board, as part of our mission to put young people at the centre of decision-making.
  • Represent Alder Hey Children’s Charity in a friendly and professional manner at all times.

What we expect from you

  • Aged between 16-30.
  • We are looking for people who are passionate and willing to learn about the incredible work happening at Alder Hey.
  • Be reliable, flexible, with good communication skills.
  • Curious, committed and passionate about making a difference.
  • Have a warm, calm and friendly manner that reflects the Charity’s values
  • A commitment to equality, diversity, and working collaboratively with others.

Commitment

  • Be available for approximately six volunteer days per year, including Board meetings and key events.

Skills/experiences/personal qualities

No prior trustee experience required.

As part of the recruitment process for this role we’ll invite you to complete an application form and contact any provided references and then have a conversation around suitability for the role.

None required for this role.

Support and Supervision

Training required

Support and supervision will be provided by Board and Senior Leaders.

Volunteer expenses

Travel expenses will be provided as per our expenses policy.
