Held in September on an annual basis, The Great North Run is the largest half marathon in the world and takes place in Newcastle upon Tyne in the North East of England. The brainchild of former Olympic 10,000 metre bronze medallist and BBC Sport commentator Brendan Foster, The Great North Run is a fantastic race is take part in and help raise money for your chosen charity.

Welcoming over 50,000 participants each year, from runners, joggers and walkers plus plenty of fancy dress outfits, the race is open to those who are 17 years old or over. Covering a route of 13.1 miles through the city centre, crowds are invited to cheer on the runners as they make their way through Newcastle upon Tyne.
