DESCRIPTION:Represent #TeamAlderHey and be part of the world’s most iconic marathon.\nJoin thousands of people taking on the ultimate running challenge in 2027 – the 26.2 miles of the TCS London Marathon – with every step taking you through the iconic streets of London and towards making a difference to the lives of children and young people at Alder Hey.\nHow to apply\nPlaces for this event are extremely limited and so we will be holding a ballot with a closing date of Monday 13th July. Successful applicants will be made aware on 31st July 2026. \nApplying for our ballot could not be simpler. All you need to do is fill in the form attached to the ‘Register Now’ button at the top of this page. Complete all aspects of the form (including sending your up-to 60 second video) and wait for your confirmation email to arrive in your inbox. Once you have received this email then your place in the ballot is confirmed. \n Why run for Alder Hey? \nBefore the event \n\nReceive an Alder Hey fundraising pack in the post with everything you need to get started including your choice of either an Alder Hey running top or running vest.\nDedicated fundraising support including handy hints and tips to help you reach your fundraising target.\nAccess to our Alder Hey Running Club Facebook group where you can connect with fellow #TeamAlderHey runners and our friendly fundraising team.\n\nOn the day \n\nDedicated Alder Hey cheering points from start to finish along the route for your family and friends.\nSupport from Alder Hey Children’s Charity’s Community Fundraising and Events team.\nRepresent one of Europe’s busiest children’s hospitals on the worlds most iconic marathon stage.\n\n\nFAQS\nDo I need to submit a video to complete my application? \nYes\, we ask that all applications include a video filmed in portrait mode and sent via WhatsApp to 07977291187. If for any reason you are unable to provide a video please contact the team who will be able to make necessary adjustments. \nIf I’m successful in the Alder Hey Children’s Charity ballot do I need to raise the minimum amount of £2\,750? \nYes. Anyone who is successful in the ballot has committed to raise the minimum amount of £2750. We ask that all successful runners set up a online giving page and raise at least 80% 4 weeks prior to race day. You will then have 4 weeks after the event to raise the remainder. \nWill there be support to help me reach my fundraising target? \nYes\, the team will be on hand throughout your London Marathon journey to help you reach your target. Remember\, this is your fundraising you are responsible for achieving the minimum sponsorship. We can provide you with hints\, tips and promotional resources. \nWhat training support will be provided? \nWe encourage all runners to sign up to Nike Run Club as this is a free service for training plans. You can also reach out to the fundraising team who will be able to help with any questions you have. \nWhen will I find out if I am successful in the Alder Hey Children’s Charity ballot? \nWe will let you know that you are successful in the charity ballot on Thursday 30th July 2026. \nWhen does the ballot close? \nThe Alder Hey Children’s Charity ballot closes on Monday 13th July and the London Marathon ballot will close on Friday 1st May. \nWhat if I receive a place in the London Marathon ballot? \nAmazing! If you receive a place in the official London Marathon ballot we ask that you contact community@alderheycharity.org to let us know so we can remove you from our charity ballot. You can still choose to be a part of Alder Hey Children’s Charity London Marathon team by setting up your JustGiving page here. \nWill I receive a top to run in? \nYes! You will receive one of our Alder Hey running boxes which includes a fully branded top. \nWill I be notified if I’m unsuccessful in the Alder Hey Children’s Charity ballot? \nYes\, we will contact all unsuccessful applicants if they are unsuccessful in the ballot. \nWhat support will there be on the weekend of the London Marathon? \nThe Alder Hey Children’s Charity team will be there on the day of the marathon with a cheering point. You will be responsible for collecting your own race number from the London Marathon expo.

SUMMARY:Kilimanjaro Trek
DESCRIPTION:Mount Kilimanjaro is a magnet for trekkers the world over and one of the most impressive charity events on offer. \nIts snow-capped summit rises high above the dusty African plains; huge permanent glaciers flow down from the summit\, spectacular views and beautiful ice formations are the reward for pushing our limits both physically and mentally on this\, the mightiest of charity challenges. \nThis 11 day trek which follows the beautiful Machame Route\, approaching Kilimanjaro from the south. Our route has been designed allowing gradual acclimatisation to the altitude – with an extra day included from the more traditional Machame Route\, this gives us the platform for summit success.  With our exceptional support and care combined with highly trained leaders and medics\, we will achieve and conquer the toughest of treks together as one. \nOur trek takes us through dense tropical rainforest\, moorland and scree until we reach Uhuru Peak\, the highest point. This is one of the most challenging charity treks at altitude\, climbing one of the most impressive mountains in the world.
