In February, we provided a small grant for £300 to the Electrophysiology/Pacing team who currently look after over 150 brave young patients with cardiac devices that require home monitoring. The grant supported the team to refurbish an iPad which acts as a home monitoring platform. It enables physiologists to remotely keep an eye on our children with cardiac devices (ICD/Pacemakers). Additionally, the iPad can be utilised as an inhouse programmer to interrogate the devices.

The team also received a small grant for £200 to buy special medals for patients, featuring the Rhythm Rascals logo.

They held a “Rhythm Rascals” day where all children with cardiac devices, and their families, were invited to attend the hospital on a Saturday to meet with device reps and physiologist. The medals where so well received that the team plan to continue with the scheme, ensuring that every child with a device gets a medal, a boost of confidence and a sense of community with other families like theirs.
