Post: Trusts, Foundations and Research Officer

Salary: £21,210 - £25,452

Alder Hey Children’s Charity is seeking to appoint a Trusts and Foundations Officer who will help to
increase and maintain income from charitable trusts and foundations. The post holder will manage
a portfolio of prospects and donors and will also be responsible for developing a prospect research
programme that will support both the Trusts and Foundations, and Major Giving income streams.

 

The key aims of this post are:


• To support the Trusts and Foundations Partnerships Manager and Director of Philanthropy to
• manage and grow income from charitable trusts and foundations, and major donors.
• To co-ordinate a rolling programme of applications, updates and reports with small to
• medium sized Trusts and Foundations against an agreed work plan.
• To develop and carry out a regular programme of prospect research into new trusts and
• foundations and high net-worth individuals, using prospect lists and databases.
• To raise an annually agreed personal target to contribute towards the overall Trusts and
• Foundations and Major Giving annual target

 

Location
We're open to this role being home based, office based or a mix of the two (our offices are located on site at Alder Hey in Liverpool).

Volunteer shop assistant (Old Swan)

 

Alder Hey Children’s Hospital is the busiest children’s hospital in the UK caring for over 330,000 young patients every year. Alder Hey is a Centre of Excellence for children with cancer, heart, spinal and brain disease and a National Centre for head and facial surgery, we are one of only four centres nationally to provide epilepsy surgery and one of two accredited major trauma units for children in the North West.

Alder Hey Children’s Charity raises funds to support the pioneering work at our brand new hospital, Alder Hey in the Park, and aims to improve the quality of life for not only the young people we see each year, but through innovations and research into childhood diseases, the quality of life for children across the world.

Overall purpose of the role:

We are looking for enthusiastic volunteer Shop Assistants to join our successful team to help run our large charity shop in Old Swan.

This is a great opportunity for anyone who is looking to gain some work experience, wants to work as part of a team or really wants to support the work the Charity does with Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.

Main duties and requirements:

  • To assist and serve customers, providing a service of the highest standard and in line with our values.
  • To assist with processing donated stock, including sorting, steaming, pricing and hanging.
  • To be involved with the till operation and the handling of cash/card payments.
  • Good communication and customer care service skills.
  • The ability to work within a team and with the local community.
  • A willingness to learn and get involved, a ‘can-do’ attitude.

Volunteers need to be 16 years or over.

Training

No direct experience is required for the role as full in-house training will be given of operational procedures.

Hours

Flexible between 9:30am – 4:30pm Monday to Saturday. Volunteers are asked to commit to morning, afternoon or all day shifts to help with the smooth operation of the shop. This could be one shift a week or several depending on your available time.

Volunteer Van Driver's assistant (Old Swan)

We are looking for a Van Driver’s Assistant to join our successful team to help deliver and collect furniture and other donations for our large charity shop in Old Swan.

This is a great opportunity for anyone who is looking to gain some work experience, wants to work as part of a team or really wants to support the work the Charity does with Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.

Main duties and requirements:

  • To assist with loading and unloading the delivery van.
  • To assist with delivering bought furniture from the shop and collecting furniture donations from the local community.
  • To assist the van driver to ensure any collected donations are fit for sale and have any required safety labels.
  • To assist the van driver in ensuring as many collected donations as possible are Gift Aided.
  • Good communication and customer care service skills.
  • The ability to work within a team and with the local community.
  • A ‘can-do’ attitude.
  • The ability to lift, with assistance, large items of furniture.

Volunteers need to be 16 years or over.
