Meet Erin
Just weeks after Erin celebrated her 2nd birthday she was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), one of the most common childhood cancers.
Immediately after her diagnosis, Erin had to have a life-saving blood platelet transfusion before being placed on steroids and a two year programme of chemotherapy.
After her first round of chemotherapy Erin had to learn to walk again. She has now turned four and is recovering well from her illness. Erin visits Alder Hey regularly for maintenance treatment and continues to make amazing progress. Erin is involved with research to help her type of treatment become less aggressive. Erin will continue her treatment until April 2015.
Since Erin was diagnosed, her family have been raising as much as they can for the hospital. They have had great support for their fundraising efforts from their friends, colleagues and the local community, and together have already raised a massive £15,000!
In October 2013, Erin became a young ambassador for Alder Hey Children’s Charity and at the end of April 2015, Erin's family held a party at the oncology unit to celebrate the end of Erin's treatment.
